Downtown PKB ready to end year with Winterfest

The holiday season is in full swing and the new year is right around the corner. We invite you to come to downtown Parkersburg on Saturday, Dec. 2, for Winterfest. In an effort to promote downtown and the great businesses and culture we have to offer, Winterfest has been created to draw people to downtown for an evening of family fun. Several downtown businesses will be open, along with various downtown museums and attractions.

The day will kick off with the Parkersburg Christmas Parade at 2 p.m. and finish up in time for Winterfest activities. Winterfest is filled with activities for the whole family. Santa’s Workshop will be set up in the Judge Black Annex Building for crafts. This year’s crafts are sponsored by Sheetz, who is also hosting a kids coloring contest. After crafts, enjoy some hot chocolate and a horse-drawn wagon ride for $2, all before getting your picture with Santa at the 2nd floor of the City Building. The night will end with a live performance by Schrader Ballet, Christmas tree lighting ceremony and Zambelli holiday firework show, sponsored in part with Peoples Bank, this year’s platinum sponsor!

Besides extended hours from a variety of our local shops and eateries, the Blennerhassett Museum and Gift Shop and Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club will be open for tours. With so much to do, we wanted to give the opportunity for others to participate. This year, we will be hosting a variety of pop-up vendors in the former Classic Plastics Toy Store place at 408 Market St. from 2-7 p.m.

For a full list of activities, shops and restaurants, and pop-up vendors check out our Facebook page and website under events.
