Chamber launching fun activity
I know everyone doesn’t like the phrase “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” but in the Chamber world, it holds pretty true. My Chamber peers from across the state love sharing ideas and events that are working in their respective areas in hopes that another Chamber might find similar success. Another phase “a rising tide raises all boats” also comes to mind…
A couple years ago I learned of an event held in Wheeling by the Youth Services System.
It is a team scavenger hunt and while not coordinated by their local Chamber of Commerce, it certainly sounded like an event we could model here in the Mid-Ohio Valley. I made some connections with the Challenge Wheeling organizers, and even attended their event this past June.
So, let me introduce you to the Amazing Chamber Chase, to be held on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Join us at Bicentennial Park for a fun, outdoor team activity in Downtown Parkersburg.
Gather a team of at least 4 co-workers, friends, family — maybe you might want to dress alike or in fun costumes?? (Each team must have at least 2 adults over the age of 18).
At 5:45 p.m., you and your 3+ teammates will receive a list of clues to decipher and locations to find in Downtown Parkersburg. (Yes, cell phones are permitted! Actually you’ll need at least one cell phone to document the clues and selfies — see below).
The entire team must go to each location where you will have to take a selfie and compete in a small activity (fun easy things like a ring toss, draw something, sing a song…).
One teammate will need to be the timekeeper because ALL teams/ALL teammates must report back to Bicentennial Park at 7:30 p.m. PROMPT with as many clues/activities that you’ve completed! (This is NOT a timed race — in fact we encourage you to walk and enjoy yourselves, just be back by 7:30 p.m.)
At 7:30 p.m. we will enjoy refreshments in the tent at the Blennerhassett Hotel and award prizes! (One drink ticket per adult; cash bar available.)
The route is less than 2 miles. Water will be provided, plus some clue locations have been kind enough to offer restrooms if needed.
Cost: $25 per team of 4 (additional teammates are $5/person)
Register: Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. The online link can be found at www.movchamber.org.
Not so much interested in walking around that evening, but you want to say you helped make the first year a great success? Guess what? Volunteers also needed!
We absolutely need your help! We need approximately 20 volunteers to set up, welcome the teams, man the clue/activity stations (will need cell phone for this assignment) and to help at intersections to keep our teams safe in traffic (you will get to wear a cool neon yellow vest!)
Please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are able to help out from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12.
