The Power of Partnerships

The Mid-Ohio Valley Chamber of Commerce prides itself on its direct connection with our education system. A strong education system enables business to recruit and keep key employees. A strong education system produces great talent that eventually become valuable employees. A strong education system says that the community values lifelong learning.

And no activity is more visible than the Partner in Education program when it comes to the partnership between education, business and the Chamber.

Did you know that in Wood County the Partner in Education program was a Chamber initiative? Did you know our Partner in Education program was one of the first to be launched in West Virginia in 1985? Did you know that Wood County was the first county in the state to have partners for 100 percent of its schools?

Each of the 27 public schools, the technical center, the adult education center and the four private schools in Wood County have at least one business partner. Some schools have several business partners. And each year since 1986, we have held an annual luncheon to celebrate the power of the partnerships. Hence, this year’s luncheon title – The Power of Partnerships.

On Wednesday, April 2, the Chamber will host the 29th Annual Partner in Education luncheon from 11:30 a.m. 1:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose room at WVU-Parkersburg. The planning committee is hard at work planning some fun and interactive activities to fully demonstrate this year’s Power of Partnerships theme.

Each school’s Business Partner is asked to help offset the cost of the luncheon so that two students, two school representatives and two business representatives attend on behalf of each partnership. The cost is $120 for the six attendees. Additional attendees are $20 a person.

Business partners, contact the Chamber office if you haven’t received your reservation form by email or regular mail. The deadline to make your reservation is Monday, March 24.

The following businesses generously donate their time, talent and resources to be Partners in Education in Wood County. Your commitment is greatly appreciated!
