Killing our veterans
Words cannot describe how outraged I am when I read about yet another confirmed homicide of a veteran at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to the families of George N. Shaw Sr. and Felix K. McDermott. As a granddaughter, daughter, sister, cousin, niece and great-niece of veterans, I am heartsick over these deaths.
This isn’t about politics, so don’t go there with the “It’s the Democrats’ fault” or “It’s the Republicans’ fault.” The blame should go straight to the individuals who are responsible for the safety of these vets.
They are claiming that their person of interest is no longer there. So what?!
That person should face prosecution, period.
If this individual who is the “person of interest” is responsible for these two homicides as well as the other ten suspicious deaths being investigated, then that person needs to be charged as well as anyone who knowingly covered up the incidents that resulted in deaths.
A special prosecutor should be brought in to lead this investigation. FBI should also be brought in to assist in the investigation, if they have not been included yet.
This will be a team effort from both sides and I hope that they set their political differences aside and bring closure to these families.
All I hope for is that the families of these veterans get the justice they so deserve and the individuals who are found responsible for these deaths be punished severely. And that also goes for those higher-ups who knowingly covered up the deaths and the incidents that caused the deaths.
