Writer twisted Bible message

Last Sunday’s letters responding to a recent controversial op-ed by state Sen. Mike Azinger included one whose writer again chose to mock and twist the Bible to make his point. Civility is a sign of maturity, and is especially necessary when controversy erupts. There’s no need to be mean-spirited and take the low road by mocking and trashing Scripture to make a point. Without respecting the Bible as a whole, anyone can pull verses out of context to make their point.

Christianity has always been at odds with the world’s view, and seems to be the only religion that’s acceptable to throw under the bus. It’s disappointing that letters attacking the Bible are considered freedom of speech, but letters defending it are not.
