Good for the goose?

How many remember the old English saying,” What is good for the goose is good for the gander”?

When I asked my computer to help me understand this, several explanations were presented:

* “used to say that one person or situation should be treated the same way that another person or situation is treated.”

* “If something is good, acceptable, or beneficial for one person, it is or should be equally so for another person or persons as well.”

* “Another consideration when I grew up was before the emphasis on equal rights for women. The way it was used then was simply to mean one person male or female should not have a different set of rules, rights, or privileges than another person. I had nothing to do with one’s sex”

With all that said, why are people sooooo upset about Ilhan Omar’s statements about the U.S. policy with Israel? Do we not have someone in the White House who makes far more offensive remarks? If this were a white, Republican man, making a statement, it would be overlooked as has happened in the legislature in West Virginia. This is the same place where Ilhan Omar’s picture was portrayed as a terrorist. I was as angry as Senator Mike Caputo was when he saw the display.

Why are there two standards for white men and black and brown men and women? Why are there two standards for Republicans and for Democrats? It is time that we as a nation look at our policy regarding Israel. If one agrees with the politics of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, one is approving inhumane treatment of citizens of his country. I am not anti- Semitic but I do not think we need to be sending dollars and dollars to keep Israel as an ally. What happened to the peace talks by Kushner?

To quote a friend, “The West Virginia GOP needs to get the hatred, xenophobia, homophobia, Islamophobia and bigotry out of its midst before it starts talking censure or expulsion of others.”
