Chances coming in 2018, 2020

The Republican Party is not in any way, shape or form ready to govern. What’s more, America knows it. RealClearPolitics polling averages of all reputable national polling to date show that President Trump is polling at a cumulative 40.1 percent — this after a recent Investor’s Business Daily/TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence (IBD/TIPP) poll found Trump’s approval at an all-time low of 34 percent.

Congress’s approval ratings are even more dismal. The RCP cumulative polling totals show Congress with an approval rating of just 19.5 percent. That is after nearly three years of GOP control in both houses and nearly seven years of GOP control of at least the House of Representatives.

The man who claimed to be the greatest negotiator alive could not negotiate the passage of an Affordable Care Act replacement. The party that was going to save us all from the dreaded Obama and Hillary and evil Democrats is instead dismantling our protections for clean air, water and soil and our fight against global climate change, the most pressing and threatening issue of our time. Consumers, labor, the environment, public health, the lower and middle-classes … these are all things the GOP appears to have little to no regard for. In fact, if one is not white, evangelical Christian, straight, cisgender, male, and especially wealthy and older, the Republicans simply don’t represent said person.

We have a chance in 2018 and 2020 to set right the wrong done in 2014 and 2016. Vote accordingly.
