Sunday hunting

Sunday hunting, private land only, will be on the ballot this November. This is for private land only, not public land. State parks? No.

You can now buy alcohol early on Sunday morning with your meals in several cities in West Virginia, but you cannot hunt on Sunday on your own land.

You can do anything on Sunday now except hunt. You can go to the gun range, fish, golf, shop, buy beer, alcohol — anything you want to do.

There are those who drink, do drugs and go driving and put the public in jeopardy with no respect for others.

There are a lot of us who remember the Blue Laws — you could not buy anything from midnight Saturday to midnight Sunday. If you needed food, gas or anything, you were out of luck till midnight Sunday.

Come deer season, a lot of money is spent by the deer hunters. They buy extra deer stamps to harvest extra deer, which is taken to a meat processor to be processed and given to the food bank to be distributed to the needy. This process is paid for by the hunter and other organizations.

There are those who go to church and like to hunt, and have said this will give them a chance to hunt in the afternoon or evening because of the way they have to work.

The DNR is for Sunday hunting. Its passage will bring more money to the county and taxes to the state, paid for with the hunters’ money.

My land, my choice. Thank you for your vote.
