League’s effort benefits voters
I wonder if anyone realizes the work and dedication that goes into the Voter’s Guide co-produced by the Parkersburg News and Sentinel and the Wood County League of Women Voters.
For many years the League has produced and printed this candidate’s questionnaire twice a year during primary and general elections as a public service. As a former League member I am well aware of how labor-intensive this project could be.
The local paper is now a partner with the League by printing a special insert prior to the primary and general elections. The League is responsible for the formation of the questions and mailing them to local and state candidates. After responses are received from the candidates the League prepares the print format for the newspaper, not an easy job in itself.
I feel this service by their combined efforts is extremely valuable to our election process in that voters are given a chance to “meet the candidate” and get a sample of their ideas on important issues.
