Make committee pay off bill

I would like to write in an effort to curb the overspending on the stadium project. The board of education is listed as the responsible party on the contract only because the facility is on the property owned by the BOE. The funding for the project should solely be placed on the stadium committee, not the BOE. There is no place for the BOE to gather these funds since the School Building Authority will not fund any athletic facility.

As a taxpayer in this county and having students in the schools I feel that the BOE should not apply any funds to this project.

Erickson All Sports Facility has been built solely on the community’s charitable giving; the BOE has given a one-time donation to this project. There is no reason that the stadium committee should expect the BOE to pay for this mistake and mismanagement over the past years.

In my time in the school system Parkersburg South traveled to Stadium Field for every home game. This had to come at a price, not only for using the facility, but also for the revenue that was generated off of the ticket sales and concession proceeds. Where has this money gone? I understand that the surface was replaced, but it still should not have taken all of the funds that the stadium committee had generated, if managed properly.

In a time that the BOE has cut mulitple teaching positions as well as needing work on all 27 of the facilities in the county. The bulk of their money should not be going to the stadium renovations. Let PHS schedule their home games for other venues. I am sure that the folks on south side would let them use Erickson, for a price.
