Helping kids become leaders
On Nov. 21, 150 Washington County students in grades 6 -12 attended Youth Leadership Summit 6 at the Marietta YMCA. Sponsored by the Washington County Behavioral Health Board and The Right Path for Washington County, this was an incredibly successful event; students learned the tenets of effective leadership, some simple and some very complex. They also worked on group projects to utilize these concepts.
I would like to extend a special thank you to Suzy Zumwalde, Josh Lewis and everyone at the Marietta YMCA who so graciously welcomed us for this important training.
We often hear about young people when they are caught doing something wrong. I’m delighted to have caught 150 young people doing something very productive and positive – learning the skills they need to participate fully in improving their schools and communities.
