Street paving damaging homes

It’s very nice that the city is repaving several streets in the Avery Street area. Unfortunately, the repaving operation has damaged several homes. The vibrating roller system the paving contractor is using has caused at least two plaster ceilings to cave in and caused ceiling damage in at least two other homes. And there is the possibility of more serious structural damage to these historic homes. Total damage to just the homes along 16th street could easily approach $100,000. The city has told us that we should contact the paving company directly for redress.

Folks living along any of the streets that are being paved need to look out for cracks and other evidence of damage.
