Celebrating West Virginia

We wish to express our deep appreciation for the community support of the West Virginia’s 150th birthday celebration!

If it were not for a supportive community like we live in, a major project drawing upon the entire community would not be possible. We successfully brought together businesses, volunteers, nonprofit groups and interested citizens to make this a reality. West Virginia will commemorate the unique creation of the State of West Virginia, the role of its citizens during the Civil War era and the continuing effect of the war on our people.

Activities were seen throughout the week in the entire county included Rick K and the All-nighters at the City Park, Kids Day using the log cabin with guides doing the park activities from throughout the ages, a major essay contest for Wood County students, a 150 picture exhibit opened for the public, antique car display and many more coordinated activities within the county and the state planned celebration.

Happy 150th birthday West Virginia!
