Blame irresponsible pet owners
In response to “Feral Cats a problem,” a potential property buyer had issues with feral cats on or near the property. Save a Kitty Feral Cat Program is a spay/neuter group that helps local residents who are feeding the cats. We do not feed feral cats, the residents do. We work very hard to raise funds to sterilize the cats they are feeding. To date, over 3,400 cats have been altered through our TNR program. Multiply that by two litters per year at 4-6 kittens each litter and I can promise you there are way less feral and free-roaming cats.
We have steadily decreased the population of cats in the city and county. If fact, we are supported by the City and County because our program works. Routinely killing these cats is inhumane and it doesn’t work. It’s been proven time and time again. It is also extremely hard on the shelter workers who are responsible for the task.
If you have issues with buying potential property, you should speak to the property owner or, even better, speak to the residents who routinely let their cats reproduce and abandon their offspring. Irresponsible pet owners are responsible for feral and free-roaming cats. Don’t take it out on the cats! They are just trying to survive.
