No better than barbarians

The monster has finally been convicted and he’s going to jail for the rest of his life. This monster I’m referring to is Kermit Gosnell, the late-term abortion provider in Philadelphia, who was recently convicted of first-degree murder of three aborted babies who were born alive, and third-degree murder in the botched abortion of Karnamaya Mongar, a 41-year-old refugee from Napal, in 2009.

For 30 years, the complaints about the filthy conditions and the “snipping” of the necks of aborted babies born alive at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society were ignored by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Department of State, along with two local hospitals. Now, it is still being ignored by the press. Why?

Roe Vs. Wade has been the law in the U.S. since 1973 in which the Supreme Court stated that a woman has the right to an abortion in a clean, safe environment for the first trimester of pregnancy. In this light, Gosnell’s case should have been front-page news. Why has this story been buried? Who was being protected and why? Did it have something to do with Gosnell’s race?

Recently, Planned Parenthood voiced the opposition to the “Infants Born Alive” act being considered in Florida and other states. In March, Alisa LaPolt Snow, a representative of the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood appeared before a congressional hearing. When questioned about what happens to an aborted baby that is born alive in a Planned Parenthood facility, she stated that “it is up to the parents and physician” whether the baby should be saved. Is this selfish notion of it’s a woman’s right to choose mean death for her aborted child? Is the Hippocratic Oath now obsolete?

President Obama recently told Planned Parenthood that pro-life people want to take women back to the 1950s where women went to backstreet abortionists. Yet, his response to a question about Kermit Gosnell during an April 17 Today show interview was, “I can’t comment on it because it’s an active trial.” Could it be that the horrors of Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society would poke holes in Obama’s staunch pro-abortion stance and his adamant taxpayer support of Planned Parenthood?

It’s been said, “We’ve come a long way, baby.” No, we haven’t. We use political agendas and the selfish arrogance of “choice” to annihilate the tiniest and most innocent of humans with late-term abortion. We have really developed a callous disregard for life and have truly become no better than barbarians.
