Supporting our area’s youth

On April 18 students from around Washington County gathered at the Marietta YMCA for the 50th Washington County Youth Leadership Summit. The summits, offered two times a school year and attended by approximately 120 individuals each time, are intended to help Washington County students in grades 6-12 develop leadership skills, build confidence as leaders in their schools and communities and to become better prepared for their futures as college students and beyond. These trainings are very impactful and, according to the attendees, are positively changing their lives.

The summits are a collaborative effort between the Washington County Behavioral Health Board and The Right Path; they are provided free of charge thanks to funding from the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services and the generosity of many community partners who have provided additional funding, items and a venue for the event.

It is incredibly heart-warming to know that a wide variety of community groups and businesses are dedicated to supporting leadership opportunities for our youth.
