Putting HC in an unfair light

The recent front page News and Sentinel article involving the Parkersburg Humane Society created an erroneous impression. The article suggested that shelter representatives should have appeared before city council to answer questions about the proposed building permit waiver for the low cost spay/neuter clinic.

In truth, shelter representatives had no knowledge of the city council’s impending vote. Without notification that the matter was up for consideration, no shelter representative could possibly have been present to answer questions or participate in the discussion.

The low cost spay/neuter clinic, which will break ground on April 17, is the result of the abundant generosity of members of the Ohio Valley community and countless hours of hard work and fundraising on the part of the shelter staff and volunteers. It is truly the fulfillment of a dream, a cause for celebration, and not a time when an unfavorable light should be cast on any part of this project.
