Needs, wants, nice to have’s

It’s a shame the President of the United States, the Senate and Congress don’t know the difference between needs, wants and nice to have’s, for if they did they would not be running America into financial ruin.

Now that individuals have had time to review the “fiscal cliff” deal that passed, it is apparent the negotiators didn’t just help out individual taxpayers, families, the unemployed, doctors and milk consumers. Tucked away in the 150-plus page bill are several tax perks (aka pork barrel spending) that many Americans didn’t know existed nor were any of these pork barrel spending specifics openly discussed by President Obama, the Senate, Congress or the news media.

President Obama stated “while I will negotiate over many things, I will not have another debate with this Congress over whether or not they should pay the bills that they’ve already racked up through the laws that they passed.”

Speaker of the House Boehner told members of the House that “our government has built up too much debt. Our economy is not producing enough jobs. These are not separate problems. At $16 trillion and rising, our national debt is draining free enterprise and weakening the ship of state. The American Dream is in peril so long as its namesake is weighed down by this anchor of debt. Break its hold and we begin to set our economy free.”

So why did the fiscal cliff deal that was designed to reduce the deficit actually add $74 billion in spending through changes in the tax law? How could anyone have voted for a bill that had ANY pork barrel spending in it? Our government officials are not being financially responsible whether Democrat, Republican or Independent. We Americans need to take back our America; not allow for more unnecessary debt that our U.S. government foolishly creates. If a business or an individual ran their finances like the U.S. government, they would have filed for bankruptcy long ago.

The American Revolution began as a result of increasing colonial unhappiness with the policies of the British government. Thomas Jefferson stated “the strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny in government.” With the direction our U.S. government is heading, the Second Amendment has never had more importance.
