Daniel Bruce Van Clief

Daniel “Dan” Bruce Van Clief, 87, of Parkersburg, was reunited with his wife Judith Grogan VanClief, on August 9, 2019.

Dan was born December 20, 1930, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Charles and Mary Henry Van Clief.

Dan graduated in 1951 from Parkersburg High School. He joined the United States Army and served in Germany as a tank mechanic. He owned and operated Western Auto in Point Pleasant, WV, and also owned and operated The Highlander Laundry in south Parkersburg. Dan was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church on Lost Pavement Road and loved being with his family.

He is survived by three sons, Steve Van Clief (Mary Ann) with whom he made his home of Burning Springs, WV; John Van Clief (Cheryl) of Louisville, Col. and Daniel Van Clief (Mary Barbercheck) of Port Matilda, PA; Grandchildren, Jason, Justin, William, Lorrie, Mike, April, Dakota, Brandi and Madison; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Aimee. Life- long friend, Chuck Stanley and special friends, Ben Dotson and Dean Hupp. Favorite nephew Gene Horner and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Joe Braham.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Grogan Van Clief whom he married June 30, 1955; two brothers, Harry and Chuck and two sisters, Maxine and Helen.

Funeral services for Dan will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Jerry Caplinger officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
