Elizabeth A. Barton

Elizabeth (Beth) A. Barton, 71, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday March 19, 2019, at Camden Clark Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Elizabeth was born on November 25, 1947 in Parkersburg, W.Va., the daughter of the late James C. “Ham” and Edith Atkinson Guinn. She worked and retired from Corning Glass in Parkersburg.

Those who knew Beth, likely have memories of sitting with her on her porch, sipping sweet iced tea and sharing life. Like a mother hen, Beth enjoyed gathering her loved ones to her nest so she could mother and care for them. She loved spending time with her grandkids, listening to her jukebox, camping and fishing, and going to auctions to add to her antique collection.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Charles “Ed” Barton; Four children, Matthew (Tonya) Hefner, Michael (Alexis) Barton, Mitchell (Sarah) Barton and Kayla Barton, all of Parkersburg. In addition to her children, she is survived by her precious 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who will always remember her as mamaw: Jalen (Jerzee), Dakota (Jacoby, Nola, Tayah and Ryah), Heath (Malia, Khalia, and August), Taylor and Devin Hefner; Abigail, Gideon, Avery, Levi, and Jackson Barton; and Nicc and Charley McCune, and Jessa Barton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Debbie Guinn and her children, Amy Guinn and Courtney Lukosavich.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brother, James W. Guinn, an infant brother and sister; and her dearly loved aunt, Mattie; and uncle, Cecil Wells.

Per Elizabeth’s wishes, there will be no funeral. The family will have a private memorial service at a date to be determined. Her remains will be laid to rest at Evergreen North cemetery at a later date.
