Ray Elder

Ray Elder, 85, of Vincent, Ohio passed away January 6, 2019 in Marietta, Ohio.

Ray was born in Dunham Township, Washington County, Ohio, July 7, 1933 a son of Charles W. and Edith K. Barber Elder Jr.

Ray was a 1951 graduate of Vincent High School and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 15. Ray worked at Union Carbide before moving to Marysville, Ohio to work at Tecumseh. After Tecumseh closed he returned to Vincent and worked at Johns Manville until his retirement.

Ray is survived by his wife June Bruker Elder; a brother Charles “Bill” W. Elder III; two sisters, Sue (Harry) Buck of Belpre, Ohio, and Karen L. Allen of Hendersonville, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Ruth M. Elder of Vincent, Ohio; step children Webster Leo Good, Becky (Charles) Jarvis, Robert (Brenda) Bruker, Leonard Bruker, and Pam (Dave) Tolley of North Carolina.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie V. Goode Elder, sisters, Donita Chambers and Elizabeth Atkinson; and a brother Ben Elder; step son Olin Good; and step daughter Doris Van Fossen.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2019 with Reverend Charles Jarvis officiating, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, Ohio. Burial will follow at Reed Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
