Jane McInnes

Jane McInnes entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. She died of natural causes after a lengthy period declining health. Jane was born to William Kenneth Burtis and Mary Ireland Burtis on Jan. 28, 1933, in Indiana and grew up in Calumet City, Illinois. She later matriculated through a nurse training program in Gary, Indiana, and became a registered nurse. In 1956 she married Richard Lee McInnes, and with him settled in Parkersburg, WV and later in Belpre, OH. Jane and Richard had two sons: Lawrence Todd McInnes and Robert Allan McInnes. During her nursing career she worked in hospitals, the Washington County (OH) Health Department, and the Belpre, OH school district as a school nurse. She volunteered to work for the International Red Cross for a three-month duration in eastern Thailand, providing assistance to Cambodian refugees, in 1980. Two years after the death of her husband in 1990, she moved to Cape Cod, MA and remained there for the rest of her life. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, and one sister (Allene Burtis Meyer). She is survived by another sister (Virginia “Ginger” Burtis Reno) and her two sons. She will be remembered for her affable and friendly personality, and her love of reading and painting.
