John Richard Barrett Jr.

John Richard “Jack” Barrett Jr., age 80, of Greensboro, GA, died Thursday, November 8, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Parkersburg, WV on March 4, 1938, Jack was the son of the late John Richard Barrett Sr. and Doris Dear Summers Barrett. He graduated from Parkersburg Catholic High School and attended the University of Cincinnati. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. For thirty-nine years he worked for GMAC retiring in 1999 as Vice President. His many interest included golfing, boating, traveling, taking cruises, and working in the yard. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and his dogs. He was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Fonte Taylor Barrett, of Greensboro, GA; three sons, Eric John Barrett and wife Kelly Marie of Franklin, TN, Jason Thomas Barrett of Bloomington, IN and Michael Justin Barrett of Savannah, GA; a sister,Joyce Barrett Bayer and husband Dewey; a brother, Stephen Joseph Barrett; three grandchildren, Jackson Richard Barrett, Bridget Kelly Barrett and Ryan John Barrett; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Ann Shipman Barrett and a daughter, Heather Shannon Barrett.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2018 with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Father Michael Silloway officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Bob Rech, Al Murawski, Bob Coletta, Dewey Bayer, Jim Matthews and Dennis Crosby.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
