Mary Ann Pettit

Mary Ann (Carney) Pettit, 73 of Mineral Wells, WV passed away peacefully on September 6, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, surrounded by family and her best friend, Sister Rita Marie.

She was born October 23, 1944 in Moundsville, WV to William Austin Carney and Silvia Rachel Quinn Carney.

She was a 1962 graduate of Moundsville High School. She married Harold Lee Walter Pettit on April 28, 1963. She worked as a hairdresser for 26 years at St Joe Hospital. Mary Ann was an avid golfer and enjoyed embroidery and working in her garden.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Austin Frank (Judy) Carney, Robert (Bonnie) Carney, & Sam (Lita) Carney.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years and three children: Lee Ann (Mike) Pyatt of Bonita Springs, FL, Johnna Heiskell of Parkersburg, WV, and Robert (Stacy) Pettit of Mint Hill, NC; Eleven grandchildren: Amanda (Juan) Salazar, Britney (Alex) McGrath, Zachary (Melecia) Bowers Christopher (Lindsay) Heiskell, and Cameron Plauche, Ashley May, Lucy Elliott, Sydney Pettit, Emma Elliott, Carly Elliott & Hannah Pettit

Eight great-grandchildren: Zachariah, Zayden, Amy Lee, Carter, Noah, Camden, Zakai & Ethan And many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her brothers John (Sonia) Carney, Joe (Jane) Carney, Mark (Belinda) Carney, Richard “Gov” Quinn, Tom Carney and Pete Woods, her sister Shirley Carney, and her sister-in-law Judy (Don) VanSyoc.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Leavitt Funeral Home, 403 7th Street, Parkersburg, WV from 1pm-3pm. Funeral services will begin at 3:00pm at Leavitt Funeral Home.

The Pettit family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Camden Clark for their attentiveness and loving care. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or The American Cancer Society.

Reverend LaVictor R. Talbert, Sr., of Mint Hill, NC will be presiding.
