Earl Wilson Jr.
Earl Wilson Jr., 89, of Pennsboro, WV, passed away peacefully at his family farm on September 6, 2018. He moved from Pennsboro in 1952, settled in Massachusetts, but returned to his beloved home seven years ago. Earl was born at that same farm on June 13, 1929.
He was born to the late Earl and Rebecca Jane Elder Wilson; he graduated from Pennsboro High School with the class of 1947 and West Virginia University with the class of 1953. He was a United States Air Force veteran and had worked as a vocational agricultural teacher at Bristol County Agricultural High School in Dighton, Massachusetts for 34 years. As a Future Farmers of America Advisor, Mr. Wilson received the National Honorary American Farmer degree, the highest honorary degree presented by the FFA.
Earl is survived by his six children, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Earl, Teresa, Patricia and Michael, and their spouses, all of Massachusetts; sister Virginia Annabelle Wilson Day of Auxvasse, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Jean Wilson Staggers.
A Catholic Mass will be held at the Christ Our Hope Church, Harrisville, WV, on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM, with Father Chuck McGinnis officiating. Burial will follow at the Wilson Cemetery, Pennsboro, WV. Friends may call at the McCullough Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV, today from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Ritchie County Historical Society, 310 Myles Ave, Pennsboro, WV 26415.
