Rev. Gene Adkins

Rev. Gene Adkins passed away July 17, 2018 at his home. He was born May 1,1933, the son of the late Maurice Adkins and Sylvia Bumgardner Adkins. He served his Lord and Savior for over 60 years. He graduated from St. Marys High School in 1951. Served in the Air Force as a crew chief on the B47 bomber, which carried the atomic bomb. He received his BA degree from Hendrix College and His Master of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology at SMU in Dallas, TX. He was a minister in the United Methodist Church, serving in Texas, Arkansas and his beloved West Virginia. Gene is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diana Stewart Adkins, son, Philip Adkins (Jennifer) of Knoxville, MD. and daughter, Joy Owen (Jason) of North Chesterfield, VA, 5 granddaughters; Hannah, Abigail and Katniss Adkins and Grace and Jane Owen. They were the joy of his life. Per his request, a party in CELEBRATION OF HIS NEW LIFE WITH THE LORD, will be held Saturday, Aug. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the chapel of the St. Marys United Methodist Church, at 104 Washington Street. St. Marys, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Mountaineer Food Bank, 484 Enterprise Drive, Gassaway, WV 26624 or WV United Methodist Conference Treasurer, P.O.
