Karen “Jean” Hopkins

Karen “Jean” Hopkins passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Camden Clark Medical Center.

She was born May 15, 1945 in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Vera Marie Grewell Goudy. Jean retired from the Wood County School System as a kindergarten teacher at Emerson Elementary School with over 40 years of service. She made a great impact on the lives of her young students. In earlier years Jean loved racing sports cars and later in life enjoyed riding Harley Motorcycles. She loved asking questions and getting to know everyone she came in contact with. Jean was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Epsilon Chapter, and was a Baptist by faith.

Jean is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dana A. Hopkins; one daughter, Jessica Rector of Williamstown; sisters, Judy Pugh of Waverly and Jan Reed (Larry) of Parkersburg; brother-in-law, James P. Hopkins (Carol) of Little Hocking, OH and sister-in-law, Tamela Butler (Jimbo) of Destin, Fl.; grandchildren, Breanna, Alexander and Britney Rector, plus several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by bother-in-law, Lowell Pugh, nephew, Kenny Pugh, mother-in-law, Fern Hopkins and father-in-law, William R. Hopkins.

Funeral services for Jean will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, WV, with Pastor Roger Smith officiating.

Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Vienna.
