James J. “Jim” Armour

James J. “Jim” Armour, age 77 of Big Rapids, Michigan formerly of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born October 22, 1940 in Fremont, Michigan. Jim graduated from Fremont High School in 1959. He married Rosalee Booker on October 22, 1960. Jim served his country in the United States Airforce and was honorably discharged.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha and his Masters of Business Administration from Ohio University at Lancaster. Jim was employed by Union Carbide and Eveready Battery in Marietta, Ohio and Lee Middleton Original Dolls in Belpre, Ohio before he retired in October of 2001. He and Rosalee moved back to Michigan to be closer to family. Jim was a member of the Big Rapids First United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Big Rapids AmVets Post 1941 and the Big Rapids American Legion Post 98. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends.

Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosalee Armour of Big Rapids; son, James Joseph III and his wife Ardonia Armour of Vienna, West Virginia; granddaughter, Alyssa of Vienna, West Virginia; and brother, Paul “Tom” Armour.

He was preceded in death by his father James Joseph Armour, mother Mary Kuhn, and three siblings.

Cremation and care are entrusted to the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. There are no services planned at this time.
