Leo Ernest Flower Jr.
Leo Ernest Flower, Jr., 89, of St. Marys, WV, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at his home. Leo was born in St. Marys on January 26, 1929, a son of the late Leo Ernest Sr. and Ruth Brown Flower. A graduate of St. Marys High School Class of 1947, (ROTC) graduate from the WVU College of Arts (B.A.) 1954, and attended the WVU College of Law. He was an infantry officer in the Korean Conflict serving in Korea and Japan, being discharged as a 1st Lieutenant, member of the 1st Calvary Division. He was a member of the Scabbard and Blade Military Society. He received Korean Service Honor Medals, National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal from the Geneva Convention. Leo founded and owned the Flower Insurance Agency, he was a past trustee of the St. Marys United Methodist Church, and he was a former longtime Director of the Pleasants County Bank Board and Director Emeritus. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 222, and the American Legion Post 79, and was a longtime WVU Mountaineer Fan.
Leo is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazel R. Maston Flower, daughters, Jeanne DeVincent of Morgantown, WV, and Lee Ann (Randy) Shingleton of Belpre, OH, granddaughters, Kristian Shingleton and Ashley Flowers, grandsons, Brody Flowers, Austin Flowers, Jacob Lemley, Ty Flowers, Zachary Napolillo, and Kelby Napolillo. In a addition to her parents, Leo was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara F. Simpson.
A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, July 22, 2018, at 3:30 P. M. at the St. Marys IOOF Cemetery. Military graveside rites will follow. Friends may call from 12 noon to 3 P. M. Sunday at the Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, WV. An online guest register is available at www.ingramfh.com.
