Jeffrey “Jeff” Dennis Elliott

Jeffrey “Jeff” Dennis Elliott of Parkersburg, WV passed away Feb. 22, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born October 24, 1947. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents Patricia Sue (Deeble) Elliott and David Andrew Elliott both of Parkersburg, WV.

After graduating Parkersburg High School in 1965, Jeff joined the United States Air Force and served in Germany. Upon his return to the United States, Jeff earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Park University, and a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, & Guidance from the University of Northern Colorado.

Jeff was very active in his counseling profession serving on various boards and committees in WV and OH, as well as adjunct faculty member at West Virginia University at Parkersburg and Marshall University Graduate Program in Counseling. In January 2017 he retired from PSIMED, Inc. after eight years of providing group mental health and addiction therapy services to the inmate population at St. Mary’s Correctional Center.

Jeff had a love of gardening and had collected over 100 different varieties of hosta. He also enjoyed cooking and baking having most recently expanded his skills to baking many different varieties of bread.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan Elliott of Parkersburg, WV and his three daughters: Heather Fowler (Marc) of Parkersburg, WV, Shannon Elliott (Nikki Gray) of Knoxville, TN, and Hilary Elliott of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by his sister Susan Marruffo (Mike) of Sterling, IL as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In keeping with his final wishes, Jeff will continue to educate future generations through his anatomical donation to the Forensic Anthropology Center, University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

We will be honoring Jeff’s memory, wit, and eclectic fashion sense at a Celebration of Life to be held at the North End Tavern and Brewery in Parkersburg, WV Saturday April 21st from 1-4 p.m.
