Yvonne Marie Postlewaite
Yvonne Marie Postlewaite, 77, of Parkersburg, passed away December 4, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center with her loved ones by her side, following a courageous twelve-year battle following complications from heart surgery.
She was born in Aruba, West Indies on October 4, 1940 the daughter of the late Herbert and Stephanie Sloterdyke Lamb.
Yvonne lived in Aruba and Venezuela until the age of four. She and her family moved to Long Island where she lived for one year before moving to Parkersburg.
She attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic School and transferred to Parkersburg High School in the tenth grade where she met the love of her life, Robert G. Postlewaite. Yvonne graduated with the class of 1958 and attended Mountain State Business College to study accounting. She had worked for the Bureau of Public Debt and St. Joe Hospital, however the majority of her career was spent at Action Auto Sales with her husband. She served as co-owner and office manager for over thirty years and was her husband’s right hand in every endeavor. She will be remembered for always greeting the customers with a big hello and beautiful smile.
She was a lifelong member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church where she and her husband Bob were married and all her children and grandchildren were baptized. Yvonne dedicated her life to her family and was the glue that held them close. She was full of energy and enjoyed cooking, sewing, raising roses, playing the piano, the changing of the seasons and especially the holidays.
She will be remembered as a gracious lady with class who laughed spontaneously and enjoyed all of life, she found great joy in even the smallest of things.
Yvonne was loved by all who knew her and will be sorely missed, especially by her husband Robert Postlewaite whom she married in 1959, three sons Robert Postlewaite, Jr. of Little Hocking, Michael Brian Postlewaite, David Shawn Postlewaite both of Parkersburg, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two half-brothers John and Steven and sister Linda and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her half-sister Celia.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 16th at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father J. Stephen Vallelonga officiating. Visitation will be from 2 -4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 9 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
The family wishes to thank caregiver Linda Andrew, Dr. F.G. Powderly and Dr. Hailey of Camden Clark Medical Center for the care and compassion shown to Yvonne and her family.
