Richard R. “Tom” Lyons

Richard R. “Tom” Lyons, 78, of Parkersburg, formerly of Ravenswood, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg.

He was born January 21, 1939 in Hartland, Clay County, WV, a son of the late Jasper Stavely and Etta Belle (Burnside) Lyons. In addition to his parents, his sisters, Virginia “Toots” Asbury, Mildred “Joy” Wolfe, Peg Lyke, and Shirley Miller also preceded him in death.

He was a former employee of Kardex Systems in Marietta, OH, and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, the NY Mets, and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed his dog Lily. He was a member of the Red Hill United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie (Knapp) Lyons of Parkersburg; son, Richard Allan “Rick” Lyons and his wife, Phyllis Ann, of Ripley; daughter, Cathy Lyons Murray and her husband, Rick, of Ravenswood; ; brothers, Robert Lyons of Linden, NC and William “Bill” Lyons of Williamstown; sister, Mary Kay Staats of Ravenswood; four grandchildren, Stacie Lyons of Jacksonville, FL, Richelle Murray (Pat Ankrum) of Ravenswood, Todd (Stefani) Murray of Ravenswood and Todd Westfall of Ripley; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Tatum Murray, Preston Rogers, Scout Ankrum and Jake Thompson; step-daughters, Teresa (Phil) Seckman, Lisa (Gary) Stover and Naomi Davis all of Parkersburg; step-grandchildren Sara and Nathan Stover. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Service will be 3 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Ravenswood with Pastor Mary Zimmer officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery, Ravenswood, WV. Visitation will be Saturday, 12:30-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
