Franklin D. Davis

Franklin D. Davis, 74, of Parkersburg, died November 17, 2017, at the Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born February 28, 1943, in Glen White, WV, a son of Edith Hutcherson Wortman of Parkersburg and the late Joel. O. Davis.

He was retired from DuPont as a business analyst after 32 years of service and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served on various boards and committees, including the Crusaders Sunday School Class and writing the “Prayer Corner” Articles. Frank was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran MCAL, serving during the Vietnam War and stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, as a control tower chief.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post #15, Masonic Blue Lodge #3 AF & AM, Shriners, North Parkersburg Kiwanis Club, recently the Vienna Kiwanis Club and served on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Care Center. He enjoyed volunteering for the American Red Cross and sang in the Gospel Reunion Choir. Frank was best known for his wit, sense of humor, compassion for others, and his faith.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Eakins Davis; one daughter, Christine Rachelle Mize and husband Jess “Ben” III of Ravenswood; one son, Eric Franklin Davis and wife Jana of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Jesse Logan, Cari and Joshua Mize; three brothers, Joel S. and William R. Davis, both of Spanaway, WA, Jack E. Davis of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Sharon A. Berry of McClain, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend John Delgado officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens with military rites by the American Legion Post #15 and masonic graveside rites by the Masonic Blue Lodge #3. Visitation will be Monday 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
