Clarence Gary Christian

Clarence Gary Christian, better known as “Toe Joe”, of Spencer, West Virginia passed away at the age of 61 from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Spencer.

He was born May 31, 1956 in Boone County, West Virginia a son of the late Willard and Dorothy Christian. He was a 1974 graduate of Sherman High School and served in the US Navy. Gary was the successful owner of LifeTite Metal Products, Amnat International, National Roof Coaters, and MetalWood Building Products, all based in Kenna, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dallas Ray Christian.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joann Richards Christian; his father-in-law, Kenneth “Nook” Richards of Boone County; two daughters, Stacy Cantley and her husband, Shawn, and Heather Jo Deal and her husband, Brian, both of Spencer; one son, Josh Christian of Danville, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Nikita “Bird” June Cantley, Kenneth “Bub” Cantley, Ezekiel Malachi Deal, and Dalis Rae Deal; two sisters, Frances and Johnny Armentrout of Marmet, West Virginia, and Angela Carol and Dewayne Pickens of Peytona, West Virginia; a brother, Billy and Paula Christian, also of Peytona; and his sidekick and buddy, who he thought of as a son, Lewis Bolte of Spencer.

His passion was coon hunting, leather work, and his yearly trout fishing trip with his wife, father-in-law, and his brothers-in-law, Davy and Gary Thomas. Gary loved sitting around his fire-pit with his neighbors and friends. But above all, Gary cherished and loved his family. Gary cared so much for people and had the biggest, most sincere heart that God ever gave to anyone. Gary never met a stranger.

Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Linda McCarty and Ronnie Santanio officiating. Burial will be on his loved and cherished farm on Windyville Road near Spencer. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
