Aldeth E. (Smith) Carez

Aldeth E. (Smith) Carez, 97, of Parkersbur, WV, went from this life to her eternal life on November 15, 2017, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV. She was born in Jackson County to the late Riley Tiden Smith and Nora Virginia Morgan Smith.

Aldeth was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star, and a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley.

She had a special love for her family and greatly enjoyed going on vacation to Myrtle Beach with her sisters, brothers and their families. Aldeth and Cecil enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Star Dusters Square Dance Club. Her other interest, included sharing recipes, cooking, fishing and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil G. Carez; four brothers, Clay, Rex, Lloyd and Woodrow Wilson Smith; nine sisters, Mary Nora Clem, Ila Smith, Edith Dillman, Evelyn Smith, Ethel Hannan, Lora Tallman, Marceella Spence, Lucretia Law and Emogene Swecker.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Nancy Wright and husband Skip of Waxhaw, NC, Cheryl Matheny and husband Joe of Vienna, WV.; four grandchildren, Jenna Matheny and husband Mitch Hasenkampf, Ashley Matheny and husband C.J. Howard, Tammy Winningham, Teresa Machakos; and four great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017, and from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services for Aldeth will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV, with Reverend Jamie Sprague officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg, WV, with military honors.
