Garoldine Luanna Gribble

Garoldine Luanna Gribble, 95, of Parkersburg, passed away October 16, 2017. She was met by her Lord as well as her husband of 63 years, Rev. Hayward Gribble. She was born September 24, 1922, in Ritchie County, W.Va., to the late Marshall and Mary Hayes Day. She was a member of the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church and had attended Harmony Baptist where she loved to hear her son, Tom Gribble, preach the gospel. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church and was a foster parent. She had may backyard bible classes at her home, was a Prayer Warrior and was a shining example to friends and family.

She is survived by two sons, Tom (Carole) Gribble and Mark (Bonnie) Gribble, both of Parkersburg; three daughters, Carol Ann Gribble of Parkersburg, Mary Ellen Godfrey and Fiancee’ (Steve Humphries) of Eddyville, Ky., and Mona (Roger) Strong of Elizabeth, W.Va.; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Cobb of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Howard Dale Gribble and Denzil Gribble; an infant brother, Marshall Day Jr.; three sisters, Lucy Cox, Ruth Sutton, Ruby Fleming; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla Gribble.

The family would like to thank Dr. Spychalski and Amedysis Hospice and staff for their care and compassion.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, October 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church with Pastor Tom Gribble and Pastor Eric Leeson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral from noon until time of service at the church.
