Buddy L. Eakle

Buddy L. Eakle, 72, of Butler, Pa., passed away September 20, 2017. He was born January 1, 1945, at Lawford, Ritchie County, a son of the late Charles Edward and Lola Frances (Jones) Eakle.

Buddy was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Bronze Star.

After returning home from the war, he was employed at a Supermarket as a meatcutter, but because of failing health, he became unable to work. For the past 25 years, he spent most of his time in and out of VA Hosptials. He was in the VA hospital in Oakland, Pa. at the time of his passing.

He is survived by a step-daughter, Rebecca Reese of St. Marys; his son, Bobby Eakle and his wife Melissa of Parkersburg; and five grandchildren, Caleb, Colton, Carli, Cayla and Cami.

He also leaves behind seven siblings, Brad Eakle (Peggy), Terry Eakle (Pauletta), Lou Hardman (Steve), Patty Newlon (Oneil), Mike Eakle, Bill Eakle (Carolyn) and Jim Eakle (Connie); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two half-sisters, Jencie Marie Jones and Tencie Pearl Reed; a half-brother, Daniel A. Eakle; a sister, Janice Ann Freshour; and two brothers, Edward Ray and Teddy Loye Eakle.

In following Buddy’s wishes, he was cremated. All are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, October 21, 2017, at noon at the Fairview United Methodist Church at Hazelgreen, Ritchie County, W.Va.
