Clyde Brewer Jr.

Clyde Brewer Jr., 78, passed away on July 26, 2017. He was a graduate of Kermit High School in Kermit, W.Va., and Glenville State College where he lettered basketball and baseball. While playing basketball at Glenville, as a point guard, Brewer scored over 1,000 points and set a record at the NAIA tournament for the most foul shots made in a tournament game. Brewer’s Masters degree was earned at West Virginia University in Morgantown. He coached at Jackson Junior High School, Hamilton Junior High School and Parkersburg South High School before moving on to Parkersburg High School where he would finish his career. He was a teacher and coached PHS Big Red Boys Basketball from 1982-2005 and was the school’s winningest coach with a record of 346 wins and 195 losses.

Survived by wife of 51 years, Rebecca Lou Ann Brewer of Vienna.

Son, Rick (Dawn) Brewer of Columbus and grandchildren Cole, Carly and Alli.

Daughter, Mary-Kay Brewer of Washington, D.C.

A gathering to celebrate Clyde’s life will be held on Friday, August 4, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 5, at 11 a.m. at Vienna Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.
