Naomi Jean Cupp

Naomi Jean Cupp passed away after a brief illness on May 21, 2017. A beloved sister, aunt, nurse, and friend was a native of West Union, WV and lived in Parkersburg, WV.

She was the daughter of the late Paul D. Cupp and Naomi R. (Cox) Cupp of West Union born in 1930. She was a 1948 Doddridge County High School graduate and 1952 St. Joseph School of Nursing of Parkersburg graduate receiving her R.N. She led a distinguished nursing career for 42 years and was the longest serving nurse at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Parish of Parkersburg and its Rosary Altar Society. She was a past officer and current member of the St. Joseph School of Nursing Alumnae Association.

She is survived by three siblings: James B. (Gail) Cupp of Attleboro; MA, Nellie B. Cupp of Clarksburg, WV; and Ray E. (Georgianna) Cupp of Clarksburg, WV, sister-in-law Frances McFerren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Jason (Patti) Cupp, Michael (Beth) Cupp, Paul (Kari) Cupp, Earl Daugherty, Tamela Fazio, Jim Heck, Sharon (Michael) LaClair, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was ever thankful for her great-niece Amanda Daugherty who was her in-home care giver and the Coyne family for their friendship.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother Paul Franklin Cupp, niece Rebecca Cupp Heck, maternal grandparents Claude & Sally Freeman Cox, and paternal grandparents Jacob S. & Rebecca Shreves Cupp. The family extends thanks to Comfort Keepers, Gentiva, and Marietta Memorial especially the Belpre Campus for their care over the past year.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 26th at Vaughan Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service conducted by Deacon Doug Deem at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Celebrant Father John Rice will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 27th at St. Francis Xavier Parish of Parkersburg followed by grave side service and interment at 2:30 p.m. at Crystal Lake Masonic Cemetery in West Union, WV.
