Donald Chichester

Donald “Chi” Chichester, 75, of Lowell, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Milford Chichester and Rebecca Oliver Chichester Evans.

He graduated from Fort Frye High School in 1960 then went on to attend the Ohio State University. Chi owned and operated the Sterling Service Store. He attended St. John’s Evangelical Church in Lowell. He was a member and past master of Lowell Lodge #436 F.&A.M. He was a member of Aladdin Shrine, a past president of the Marietta Shrine Club and current presiding president of the Marietta Shrine Holding Corp., an associate member of Nemesis Shrine, a member of the Tyler Co. Shrine Club and the Royal Order of Jesters #156 in Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a founding member of the Eastern Ohio Quarter Horse Association and he enjoyed raising and breeding Quarter Horses.

Chi is survived by his wife, Sara Kay Chichester; two sons, Seth Chichester (Sammy) and Evan Chichester (Melissa); two grandchildren, Erica L. Chichester (Jamey Hackathorn) and Carter Chichester; great granddaughter, Sophia Grace Hackathorn; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Mahoney (Charles) and Ireta Grosvenor; and three brothers, James Evans (Barbara), Patrick Evans (Brenda) and Boyd Evans (Julie).

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather, John C. Evans.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., Marietta with Pastor Don Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lowell, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a Masonic service to be held at 8 p.m.
