Kenneth R. Hopkins

Kenneth R. Hopkins, 67, of Parkersburg, passed away February 25, 2017, at the Camden Clark Medical Center Memorial Campus.

He was born in Elizabeth, W.Va., the son of the late David Robert and Gladys Hall Hopkins.

He was a graduate of Wirt County High School and had attended college. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had worked for the Bureau of Public Debt Physical Services from August of 1971 until July of 2011. He had been a member of the Boy Scouts for 30 years serving as an assistant and Scout Master as an adult. He was a former member of the Elizabeth-Wirt County Volunteer Fire Department and the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the American Legion in Ripley, W.Va. He was also a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Hopkins of Parkersburg; his sons, Robert K. Hopkins (Theresa) of Lompoc, Calif., and Cody R. Hopkins (Erica) of Richmond, Texas; his brothers, David “Gene” Hopkins of Parkersburg and Jerry Hopkins of Elizabeth, W.Va.; his sisters, Martha Slusher of Richmond, Va., and Carolyn Longwell of Warren, Ohio; his grandchildren, Lillian Hopkins and Elijah Hopkins of Richmond, Texas, and Dylan Hopkins of Lompoc, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

In addtion to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Bain and Judy Brooks.

Funeral services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Burial will be in the Evergreen North Cemetery with full military graveside rites by Parkersburg American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be today from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
