Gary Ray “Pete” Criss
On the evening of Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at home with his loving wife, Alice, by his side, Gary Ray “Pete” Criss, 82, went to be with the Lord.
Pete was born in Harvey, W.Va., February 6, 1934, to the late Everette Glen Criss and Winona Faye (Criss) Musial.
Throughout his life family was most important and music was a hobby; he enjoyed by playing his guitar and singing with friends and family. He had a winning personality and loved people.
Pete was a truck driver by trade and was awarded and celebrated for driving accident free for over a million miles. In his retirement years, he prided himself by maintaining and improving the landscape of his home.
Pete was an active member of Gihon Tabernacle EM Church and loved the Lord. The love, friendship and support of Pastor Jeff Williamson was greatly appreciated.
Pete is survived by his wife, Alice, who was the love of his life; and a daughter, Susan Douglass, (Richard) who he adored; and three sisters, Linda Carrel Knox (Michael), Carwyn Jan Cogar, and Judith Ann Burmer (Michael). His supportive stepsons, whom he loved, Perry (Linda) Elschlager and Terry (Sherry) Elschlager. His grandchildren, Matt, Michael, Randi, Ryanne, Amanda (Brian), Shellie (Brad), April, Chad (Shelly), Allison; and several great-grandchildren that he adored.
Pete was preceded in death by two sons, David Ray and Timothy Ray Criss; and a brother, Dennis Leon Criss.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m., at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Jeff Williamson officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.
