Ralph Paul Bunner

Ralph Paul Bunner, 78, of Brohard, W.Va., passed away October 5, 2016, surrounded by his five children who are blessed to call father.

Dad was born on April 3, 1938 at his family home in Brohard to John D and Magdalene (Haney) Bunner.

He attended Hartley School but left at a young age to work teams of horses plowing and logging for neighbors to help provide for his family.

He married Gertrude Lorraine Cain on October 26, 1963 and spent 51 years together on earth. Dad retired from local Union 33 after several years of service he started his career at Singer Sheet Metal and later worked for Murray’s Sheet Metal, Danser and Tri-State.

He was a Deacon and trustee at Strait Creek Baptist Church and caretaker of the Hartley and Wolverton cemeteries.

Dad’s favorite hobby was to raise a garden. He always tilled the earth with a plow pulled by his beloved horse, Trigger before he was no longer able due to health issues.

Dad is survived by his five children, Shelly (Jerry) Murphy, Angie Dorsey and Kim (Bob) Richards of Brohard, Paul Bunner of Elizabeth and Shawna Bunner of Waverly.

He was an awesome grandpa to Anyka, Zeb and Sam Dorsey, Hannah Starcher, Mariah Yeager, Byron and Kalleigh Richards, Wyatt Bunner, Dillon and Gavin Goodnight, Gabrielle Gorby and Mahala Metheney. Great-granddaughters, Jasmine, Olivia and Chloe Starcher and Joselynn Murphy.

Dad was survived by siblings, Florence Haut, Mary Barton and Howard Bunner. In-laws, Patricia Groves, Earlene (Wayne) Toney, Marilyn Bunner, Johnny Cain.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; in-laws, Ollie and Eris Cain; sister, Opal Leuenberger; brother, Delbert Bunner; brother-in-laws, Smith Groves, Jolnn Leuenberger, Dick Haut and Jimmy Cain.

Services to celebrate the life of Ralph will be Saturday, Oct 8 at 2 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville, W.Va. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. and two hours prior to the service on Saturday. Reverend Lewis Villers and Pastor Dobby Thrash will officiate the service.
