Virginia A. Mbiad

Virginia A. Mbiad, 98, of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at the Morrison House in Zanesville.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1915, in Pennsboro, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ellis Corra and Theba (Farris) Corra.

Mrs. Mbiad was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Her and her husband John were the owner operators of Virginia’s Luncheonette on 4th St. in Cambridge. Following the death of her husband, she then went to work for Kennedy’s Bakery for several years. She was a past officer of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was a past president of the St. Benedict’s Catholic Women’s Club for 14 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Mbiad on April 19, 1970, married on May 10, 1953; three brothers, Joe, Charles and Alex Corra; a sister, Mary Jane Casey; and two grandchildren, Paul John “P.J.” Mbiad and Marc Thomas Mbiad. Virginia is survived by son, Garry (Diane) Mbiad of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Casey (Nathan) McVicker, Kyle (Ruth) Mbiad and Clay (Candace) Mbiad; seven great-grandchildren, Anna, Allison and Isaac Mbiad, Kinslie, Kenna, and soon to arrive, Kwynn McVicker, and twins, Aria and Knox Mbiad; two sisters, Madeline “Putt” Lott of Charleston, W.Va., and Rose Turner of Charleston, S.C.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends and caregivers at the Beckett House.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Christ Our Light Parish, with Mass of Christian Burial held at 11 a.m. Father Robert Borer will officiate with burial following in Northwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Our Light Parish Church or to St. Benedict’s Catholic School at 701 Gomber Avenue, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
