Dan L. Justice

Danny Lee Justice, 71, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away May 1, 2014, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Blackberry, Ky., Sept. 30, 1942, the son of the late John J. Justice and Elva Spence Justice Bowen.

Dan was a 32 degree Mason, joined the Parkersburg Masonic Lodge 169 AF & AM in 1972, member of Aladdin Shrine and Belpre Shrine Club, Scottish Rite and Honorary life member of Beni-Kedem Temple of Charleston. He enjoyed Myrtle Beach where he and his wife spent time there over the last 52 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed time with his special friends, Ray George, Danny Krysak and the rest of the golf group from Charleston. He enjoyed his breakfast group at the Belrock and was an avid Marshall fan. He worked with the Asbestos Insulators Union for 30 years and operated Industrial Fireproof and Insulation of Belpre. He also operated Sam’s Tailoring with 16 stores in Vienna and the Washington, D.C. area.

Family was very important to Dan. He loved his wife, sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren very much. They were the light of his life. Dan was known to all the family as “Poppy.”

Surviving Dan are his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Whitt Justice; two sons, Gary Justice (Sarah) of Belpre and Jay Justice (Kim) of Williamstown; eight grandchildren, Jerrod, Abbey, Lauren, Whitney, Jackson, Cameron, Clayton and Justin; two sisters, Carol Cisco of Varney, W.Va., and Brenda Seufert (Robert) of Dayton; one brother, John J. Justice (Edna M.) of Huntington; special family members, Rick and Mary, Tom and Jeanie, Dwight and Jennifer and Geege; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family; and a special thanks to his friend, Lovel Hackney and many other friends. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Elizabeth York Justice; step-father, Chester Bowen; sister, Frances Noe; and two brothers-in-law, Wilson Cisco and Bill Noe.

The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Rev. Jim Mike Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today with a Scottish Rite service at 8 p.m. The family will also receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Sunday, May 4.

The family wishes to thank to Dr. Maijub, Dr. Abhyankar, Dr. Cawley, the girls and Brad at the Strecker Cancer Center and Marietta Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care on Dan during his illness.
