Eva B. Beckwith

Eva B. Beckwith, 89, of Parkersburg, passed away March 31, 2014, at her daughter’s residence, under the loving care of her family and Amedisys Hospice Services.

She was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Wood County, a daughter of the late James Earl and Nellie I. Barnett Cross.

Eva was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and enjoyed golf, bowling and time with her family and friends.

Surviving Eva are her daughter, Thresa I. “Pat” Wright; granddaughter, Deborah Holder; three great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Kayla and Mychal; one great-great-grandson, Cullen; two sisters, Margaret Jackson and Betty Deems; three brothers, Oliver “Bud” Cross, William Cross and James Cross; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Beckwith, in 2006; four sisters, Elizabeth Hardesty, Louise Crouser, Ethel Cross and Violet Graham; and three brothers, Robin Cross, George Cross and Cecil Cross.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father John Rice officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 4, with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Services, especially Sarah and Connie, and also “special” Annie from Wood County Senior Citizens for their kind attention and care of Eva and the family.
