Cathy Ann Twyman McPhail-Bloor

Cathy Ann McPhail-Bloor died suddenly from complications of a sudden illness on March 6, 2014, in Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas, with her family at her bedside.

She was born in Parkersburg, on Aug. 20, 1969, the eldest daughter of Doris Somerville Twyman of Parkersburg and William J. (Sonny) and Patricia Twyman of Mineral Wells.

Cathy grew up in Elizabeth, and graduated from Wirt County High School with the Class of 1987, and was a proud member of the Tiger Marching Band and Majorette Corps. She attended West Virginia University, Glenville State College and was a graduate of Houston Community College. While in Texas, she was employed in the oil industry.

Cathy had an outgoing personality and was well-known for her “Cathyism one liners.” She loved her family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her husband, daughters and step-children. Cathy and her sister, Christy, shared a strong bond that began in childhood and continued in their adult lives. Cathy was her mentor, full of intuition, intelligence and wisdom. The two were often referred to as Cat and Little Cat, sisters and best friends forever.

She was an animal lover and had a special love for her pharaoh hounds, Pacer, Ramses and little Brodie. Although Cathy lived in Texas, she was a strong Ohio State football fan and was quite verbal with her support of her Buckeyes.

Besides her parents, Cathy is survived by her husband, Robert I. Bloor; daughters, Kelsey and Sydney McPhail, and step-children, Jack and Karys Bloor, all of Missouri City, Texas; her sister, Christy Durnell-Goddard and husband John A. (Chip) Goddard of Parkersburg; a brother, William J. (Bill) Twyman of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Ashley and Amanda Twyman of Mineral Wells; nephews, Sean Durnell, Zachary, Jacob and Joshua Goddard of Parkersburg; an aunt, Patricia Bluew; an uncle, W. Jerry (Pamela) Twyman of Elizabeth; her husband’s parents, Malcomb and Susan Bloor of Edinburgh, Scotland; and her former husband and friend, Matthew R. McPhail. Cathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kenneth and Opal Somerville and Woodrow J. and Ethel Twyman; aunts, Joyce Twyman Slater and Carolyn Somerville Twyman; an uncle, Kenneth R. Bluew; and former father-in-law, Marcus McPhail.

Cathy was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Elizabeth.

A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Leavitt Family Center, 620 Avery St., Parkersburg. Private family graveside inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
