Stephen Michael Saluk, 66, of Parkersburg, passed away Feb. 28, 2014, at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.
Steve was born Aug. 2, 1947, in Norfolk, Va. His birth parents are Wilda Werne of Phoenix, Ariz., and Benjamin Saluk of Cherry Hill, N.J. He was raised from an infant by his grandparents, the late O.D. and Maude Davis McCauley.
Steve retired from GE Plastics in November 2005 with 35 years of service. He was a member of Word of God Ministries Church, Blennerhassett Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Pioneer Antique Auto Club. He was an avid trout fisherman and enjoyed fishing and exploring the trout streams in West Virginia with his good friend, Gary Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marcia McIntyre Saluk; three daughters, Andrea Leigh (Chris) Ruppenthal of Hurricane, W.Va., Erica Lynn (Jeff) Starcher of Parkersburg and Amanda Jo Saluk of Parkersburg; three grandchildren that he adored, Emileigh Jill Ruppenthal, Emma Grace and Bradyn Michael Starcher; stepsister, Patricia Saluk; stepbrother, Jay Werne; and a host of friends and family.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. March 8 at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Lynn Roush officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
