Robert G. Clarke

Robert Glasgow Clarke, 83, of Norman, Okla, formerly of Parkersburg, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, surrounded by family.

He was born October 10, 1930 in Verona, Pa., to Robert and Mary Jane (Glasgow) Clarke.

Bob married Sandy Lyon on May 11, 1963 in Parkersburg; the beginning of a 50 year journey, culminating in renewed vows last year.

In addition to his wife, Sandy, Bob is survived by his son, Robert Clarke and wife Vickie, of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Courtney Garnand and husband Andy of Norman, Okla., and Hollis Pearsall and husband Josh of Norman, Okla..

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg. Graveside service with military rites conducted by Parkersburg Post 15 American Legion will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Robert Glasgow Clarke, 83, of Norman passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, surrounded by family. He was born October 10, 1930 in Verona, Pa., to Robert and Mary Jane (Glasgow) Clarke. Bob married Sandy Lyon on May 11, 1963 in Parkersburg, W.Va.; the beginning of a 50 year journey, culminating in renewed vows last year. After attending the University of Pittsburgh, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He joined Marbon Chemicals in 1962, retiring in 1996 as the Director of Human Resources for Borg Warner.

An active member of Kiwanis, Bob served in the Angels Program, delivered meals, and participated in the Terrific Kids program. He also served as Division 40 Lt. Governor and President of the local chapter. In addition, Bob was an Elder and a Clerk of Session at his local church, Memorial Presbyterian. Among the several roles he played, he loved being a husband, father, uncle, but most of all, “Pops” to his grandchildren. His hobbies included playing golf, being an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, gardening, playing cards, enjoying his 5 o’clock Manhattan, and watching his favorite television show, M.A.S.H.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Stewart Clarke; his sister, Margaret Abbott, and a grandchild, Sidney Pearsall. Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy Clarke; his son, Robert Clarke and wife Vickie, her children, Freddie and Corrine of Orlando, Fla.; his daughter Courtney Garnand and husband Andy with their two sons Killian and Cameron of Norman, Oklahoma; his daughter Hollis Pearsall and husband Josh with their daughter Alayna and one on the way of Norman, Oklahoma. Bob also enjoyed the love and support of his extended family, including his nieces, nephews and their numerous children.

Visitation for Bob will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman, Oklahoma. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 601 24th Ave SW in Norman, Oklahoma.
