Evangelist Cecil O. Dotson

Evangelist Cecil O. Dotson passed peacefully from this life on March 5, 2014 at Worthington Nursing Home. Cecil was looking forward to receiving that crown of life promised in Revelations 2:10 to those who remain faithful.

Cecil was born in Doddridge County, W.Va. January 17, 1914 to the late Harvey and Stella (Williamson) Dotson. Also preceding him in death were his first wife Helen Dotson, second wife Leona Dotson, daughter Connie Bartels, brother Ray Dotson, and two sisters Martha and Estel Butterfield.

Cecil worked at the Viscose until World War II. He was a United States Army veteran and received the Purple Heart. He was a minister for over sixty years at many churches throughout the valley.

He is survived by his son Doug Dotson (Debbie) of Parkersburg; daughter Sherry Bartaletta (Pat) of Quaker City, Ohio; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a sister Josephine Florence of Parkersburg; a brother Dale Dotson of Vienna, W.Va.; and a son-in-law William Bartels of Canfield, Ohio.

Services will be Monday 11 a.m. at North End Church of Christ with Evangelists Ron Laughery and Steven Haguewood officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery North. Visitation will be Saturday 2-8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
